Vivien Cheng
I'm an incoming Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at Stanford.
Education. B.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Computer Science, Stanford (2026).
Before Stanford, I ranked first nationally in Germany's 2022 Abitur examinations.
Research. My experience includes efficient machine learning and systems at Hazy Research (Chris Ré),
electrified thermochemical reactor optimization at the Electromagnetics & Sustainability Group (Jonathan Fan),
empirical fintech research at Stanford GSB (Greg Buchak), and independent research in game theory.
Beyond research. On campus, I serve as co-president of Stanford's Tau Beta Pi. I also tutor Math, German, and Mandarin. In industry, I've worked at Tesla, Jump Trading, and German automakers. Before Stanford, I founded nonprofits and volunteered with Germany's Federal Agency for Technical Relief.
